What are the relevant Physiotherapist qualifications?

Physiotherapy is a three year degree course at one of the universities offering this course throughout the UK and Ireland. There are accelerated, two year, courses for those who already have a relevant qualification, e.g., in Sports Therapy. There is a requirement for a minimum number of clinical hours (i.e. time spent with patients) to be completed before qualification.

A qualified physiotherapist is a safe and effective practitioner in many areas. knowledge is gained in the first few years of practice, often in a rotational scheme which allows experience in many different clinical areas.

How will I know that the Physiotherapist has been chosen is who they claim to be?

We Check…So Can You!!

All physiotherapists have to be registered with the Health Professions Council (HPC) before they can call themselves a physiotherapist or practise as one. This is a legal obligation and you can check whether someone is on the register by putting their name into the database on the HPC site.

The HPC has the duty to regulate this. The HPC investigates complaints, takes action against individuals who have been shown to have broken the rules and ensures the continuing competence of practitioners.

The vast majority of physiotherapists belong to the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy, a professional and representative body. However, this is NOT a legal requirement.

How much will my treatment cost?

Physio Express endeavour to keep prices low, so that our treatments are more accessible everyone. Treatment charges at other clinics will depend on where and when you are treated and may vary. Prices usually range from £40 to £90 in the London  area for an appointment and between £30 to £50 outside the London area. If you wish to discuss prices before booking please telephone our help line between Mon-Fri 8am to 7pm.
